Mooney Boys was established in 2013 in Vidor, TX by Marshall and Lane Mooney. Since its beginning, Mooney Boys has continued to bring premiere self-defense teachings through jiu-jitsu and mixed martial arts with the help and support of this amazing community.

Meet our Instructors

Marshall Mooney (Head Instructor)

Marshall Mooney holds a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which he earned under the tutelage of Patrick Head at Golden Triangle Jiu-Jitsu. Marshall’s martial arts journey began when he was just eight years old, where he began competing at various levels across several different disciplines. Marshall boasts a wealth of experience in Boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Wrestling, and has also competed as a Mixed Martial Arts fighter, at both amateur and professional levels. Throughout his journey, Marshall has participated in grappling tournaments at every belt level, earning accolades and recognition for his skills and abilities. Marshall is a passionate leader, teacher, and teammate who takes immense pleasure in sharing his knowledge with others, spreading the joy of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Lane Mooney (Assistant Instructor)

Lane Mooney holds a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which he earned under the tutelage of Patrick Head at Golden Triangle Jiu-Jitsu. Lane’s martial arts journey began when he was around 17 years old, starting with Tae Kwon Do, and later training in boxing, judo, jeet kun do, and akido. However, it was Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that captured his heart and became his primary focus and passion for several decades. Lane has served in law enforcement for over 30 years and possesses an exceptional ability to apply the practical aspects of jiu-jitsu to various situations for the benefit of his students and peers.
